After getting a new clutch there was an advise note on the receipts.

- all three diffs mounts worn and leaking oil.

i've trawled through my haynes manual and there is no mention of diff mounts in there.

What are they for and where is it.

Is it an urgent job?

All i know is they are metal plates with rubber on them.

Help......

Rear Differential front mount is usually the first to go, but if you have to renew it/them DO NOT BUY the CHEAPER one's !!!, I did and it lasted less than 12 months and was completely shot,in fact I found there was nothing wrong with the old one so I fitted old one back on & got my money back.

do a search on here for rear diff mounts - not critical - but it has been known fur the rear prop to try eating its way through the fuel tank

ok ive checked the searchs out. it appears it shouldnt be a difficult at all. thanks mad-hat-man

sparkjohn5 - you said not to get the cheap set. how much are the decent set gonna be around. bearing in mind i need all three of them. i wouldnt have thought LR would stock the cheap ones anyway would they. thanks

wot sparky means is only buy lr parts for this job. . . .you can buy them from reputable 4x4 places. . . . .un mhm is only offrin good advice like always. . . . .:) :) :)

Bought the "proper" LR front one first time and lasted abut 6 months (dunno how much came with a bunch of stuff)...bought another off eblag for about 10 quid and still there 2 years later.

Easiest way to do job on front is to drop rear subframe by about an inch (jack under body-not subframe or suspension)-loosen 2 main subframe bolts either side-should take less than 1/2 hr otherwise youll be there all day trying to get old one out...rears just bolt in'/out

its a little tricky getting the mounting in and out, as there isnt a lot of room, just make sure you get it all alighned up ,the manual mentions special lr jigg, i did it by eye and a tape

Changed mine on the drive with no special tools. Used a 13mm socket and spanner and left the prop connected as well as drive shafts. Simply shuffled out of the way to change each.

Mounts wear and the rear diff flange begins to eat through the metal plate which protects your plastic fuel tank.

Just double check the advise - diff mounts should not leak oil. (perhaps its the wording) Diff oil seals (for driveshafts) are about £23 genuine LR. If its leaking (visible on floor or upon close inspection) then get it fixed as diff can be expensive.

Steve

Stealer price I dont know , but I got front from reputable Private propshaft repair /sales place for about £40 for GKN FRONT, you don't need others unless they have definately gone.
