after 2 hours of motorway driving this morning, as i pulled over to set my gps, diff lock light came up along with the TC and ABS light (not the hill descent one)
turned off the engine, started again but lights still there
i have had 3 amigos before due to front hub thing so did not really mind
anyway, 10 15 mins of driving, diff lock light disappeared. only TC and ABS lights on
another 10 15 min driving, all lights went away

NOW THE PROBLEM STARTS!!!

as i was greenlaning on the slippery mud today in low ratio, all in a sudden traction control kicks in (you can hear this grrrrrrtt grrrtttt thing) until disco fully stops even tho i was on full throttle. this happened every time tyres were about to spin on the muddy surface and basically made me stuck many times in the mud
it still drives ok on the motorway and there is no lights on the dash atm

any ideas??:confused::confused:

I might have an ideea just please answer exactly to my questions
1. did you replace that front wheel hub which gave you the 3 amigos and if yes with what brand of hub? it's important
2. what MY is your car?(i presume it's up to 2001 but it must be pre-facelift anyway)
3. do you have central diff lock fitted?
4. do you have RAVE?(that's important only if you want to DIY)
According to the answers i'll tell you more

hello
here are the answers

1. did you replace that front wheel hub which gave you the 3 amigos and if yes with what brand of hub? it's important
i ahvent replaced it, just had the codes deleted
2. what MY is your car?(i presume it's up to 2001 but it must be pre-facelift anyway)
it is a 2000 manual
3. do you have central diff lock fitted?
no
4. do you have RAVE?(that's important only if you want to DIY)
yes i have RAVE

OK, if the 3 amigos were on and you've got a sensor fault on one wheel then reset codes and it didn come back the TC erratic behaviour is from there, or from play in the hub or from the sensor itself/wiring... the sensor's signal is within expected range and it doesnt trigger the 3 amigos but it gives slightly different signals than the other's and for the system it means wheel slippage and activates the TC...i've seen that not once, time to replace that hub, be aware, cheap hubs from ebay can cause problems by new.

the diff'lock, ABS, TC thing is other issue which comes from the diff'lock switch circuit cos the switch and wiring is there, it's normal to get the ABS and TC lights together with the diff'lock cos that's how it works, on the early modells like your's the switch is connected with spade connectors and it's poor quality too so there's a problem, or a wire is touching earth or the switch plays up and the SLABS gets locked diff input and triggers the warnings:
RAVE - BRAKES - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION 70-21 said:
ETC
The ETC function uses brake intervention to prevent wheel spin and maintain even torque distribution to the wheels.
ETC is automatically enabled while the brakes are off at speeds up to 62.5 mph (100 km/h), and operates the brakes
either individually or in axle pairs:
l At speeds up to 31.3 mph (50 km/h), ETC uses individual brake intervention to maintain even torque distribution
between wheels on the same axle.
l Vehicles up to 03 model year – At speeds between 0 and 62.5 mph (0 and 100 km/h), ETC also uses brake
intervention in axle pairs to maintain even torque distribution between the front and rear axles. In effect, this mode
of operation replaces the centre differential lock of the transfer box which, although still incorporated, is non
operational under normal driving conditions.
+TRANSFER BOX - LT230SE, DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION, Description. If the centre differential
lock is in the locked condition, the SLABS ECU illuminates the ABS and ETC warning lamps
and inhibits the ETC
function (the ABS, EBD and HDC functions are retained, but at degraded performance levels).

2000 manual should have the CDL fitted? Not linked to anything but should still be in the LT230 box.

Peter
yes its in there
i just need to modify a d1 lever or find a different way to activate the cdl
i am not paying 250+ for a ashcroft d2 lever..it is ridiculous...
