Hi all,

I thought that I would take full advantage of my day off and replace the clutch which let go on me earlier last week. The clutch has been replaced with no issues with an AP item.

Whilst I was there I decided to give the box a clean and to see why my diff lock light was on all of the time regardless of leaver possition.

So, first I cleaned the box -

I then set about checking the switch in the back which seemed as if it had been replaced not that long ago (far too clean for the rest of it).

The leaver moves fine to select Hi/Lo on the Tbox so turned my attention to the diff lock linkage - not the best thing to find as I took the top off....

This is the position that the bar inside is set to.

My question is as follows - in this position is the box stuck in diff lock or not? I am a little out of my depth when it comes to things like this (clutches etc I can do)

I have tried the search function and found a lot of information about the Tboxes, but cannot seem to find anything which indicates what way the linkages mean in correspondance with the diff lock.

If there is a thread about this I appologise and could someone kindly post a link in here, if not could someone please let me know where it should all sit and if the box is stuck in diff lock?

Many thanks
Henry

in diff lock, lever it back, switch may be screwed in too far stopping selector moving, your diff pivot is bent either 3x bolt tightened when not in selector shaft slot or maybe forced while selector jammed id go for first one though as diff lock linkage isnt that strong, just behind switch is 6mm allen screw this is wound into tighten difff lock detent might be wound in too far you set it by refastening diff lock pivot correctly puttin small spanner on pivot and working it in/out tighten screw till locks and wind back far enough to ensure free movement,if after loosening switch and screw it is (selector shaft ) jammed/stiff let us know and i tell you where to go from there and ill have a pivot if needed

Thank you very much for your advice, I will have a little look at the above now. The 6mm screw you speak of, what do you mean by "detent"?

I'll carry the laptop to the shed and let you know what I find out.

The pics are 400x400 hosted on photobucket and look fine this end, sorry if they are too big for other users.

Okay so I have withdrawn the indicator switch and now I can slide the lock with ease with a screw driver.

I will be swiping the top hat part of our disco1 for the time being to make sure this is all working correctly.

Will I still need to adjust the 6mm screw now too? Sorry to sound stupid, I am not great with transfer boxes and diff locks. I can mend a chasis by welding and making other bits and pieces but I am way out of my depth with gearboxes

was it free or did you need to alter switch or screw if it was free without altering chances are someone bent it fitting it at one time

just logged in on the home lap top and they are fine, must have been my work pc, they were about twice the size of my screen on that.

Guess the work pc is on its way out. apologies
