diff lock light

Hi everybody,
My diff lock light started to glow on and off not in diff lock while on the road running normaly, now when i put it in diff lock no light at all , is it the sensor ? if so where is it

Basically, the switch is in a corner of the gearbox casting and behind the difflock linkage, it's a bugger to get a spanner onto, you'll probably need to "modify" a spanner to tighten it up correctly.

It's best to remove the drivers seat & slidding plate, also I think that I took out the drivers floor plate, the switch is right under the join of all the panels.

Get a new switch before you start, read the Haynes manual about setting it up (you'll still need to do it 3 or 4 times until it's right!)
Check all the linkage is correct and the pins OK. put a bit of grease on the plunger that comes in and out of the g/box case when you activate the difflock.
Check that the wire hasn't chaffed through anywhere.


OOPS! just noticed that you've got a disco, I think that the switches are the same, and in the same location, just how you get to it might be somewhat different!

You can get to the switch easily if you take out the centre console (10 mins), or you can reach it from underneath it is on the off/side of the box. Better from the top as it is easier to put a bit of grease on the linkages whilst there and check around in general.

And check for chafing as already mentioned,
