Hi all,
Just got my 92 defender 200tdi back from the mechanic (family friend so a trustworthy bloke), after a clutch change, and he warned me that the diff light is staying on.
He assures me that the diff lock isn't in, so it's safe to drive as normal but I haven't jacket the axle up and tested it for myself so I'm not entirely sure.
He said the switch is underneath the screw on panel above the trans tunnel, and it's a simple swap. I will whip the panel off shortly, and try to find the switch, and remove it, so I can order a new one and replace it.
My worry is that after the new clutch went in, something got knocked/ broken so that now the difflock is permanently engaged, and I have no way of knowing. I'm worried that changing the switch is just hiding a problem with the diff lock itself and I'm going to quickly trash my transmission in blissfully unaware of being in permanent diff lock.
Locking the diff in high or low feels different to how it did before. There's no positive change, and it doesn't go more than an inch to the left and doesn't appear to want to stay there. It all worked fine before the clutch change.
