Hi, Just discovered that my D2 (2004) is fitted with a Diff Lock, The lever went across (bit stiff) and the light came on, however it took a bit of effort to to get it to go out. (Diff lock definitely works as I checked by jacking 1 wheel and it locks up)
What we didn't realise was during the ignition on lamp test did not include the Diff Lock light. Is that normal or can it be programmed in to lamp test.?

To get it out of diff lock, just push on the lever while reversing slowly.
As for the light, it comes on when you are in diff lock, which is fine, why do you care if it comes on or not on ignition being turned on?o_O

I know just a bit fussy !. but I might of realised earlier had I seen the light coming on during lamp test. Didn't even suspect the lamp was there as a lot of people are saying that the later D2 don't have Diff Lock.

The diff lock on the D2 is a whole mess. Some did have it, some didn't, some had the works in the gear box to which you could attach a method of using it, others didn't.
Mine has the works in the box but no attachment to the lever. Might make my own up one day, as a lot of others have!;)

You could have avoided this stress just by reading te owner's handbook cos the diff-lock light has no self test as it's hardwired to the switch, it comes on with locked diff and goes out without it, simple as that

Maybe OP doesn't have a handbook, I didn't get one with all of my discos! I think two out of three was a very good batting average!
But nice of you to confirm it!:):):):):)
