Diff leaking again

well 4 weeks ago i replaced both diff driveshaft oil seals and today noticed a diff oil smell

laid on the floor to find the O.S is leaking from the centre of the seal running down the diff and dripping onto the floor

bought them off ebay but surly they ment to last more than 4 weeks
 
i dnt have the jack jacked up but on all 4 wheels theres no play i can feel but my frount diff mount has seen better days could this be casing it its only the OS thats leaking when i replaced the pair of seal

There are a few reasons why a new seal can leak. Seal damage is most common but if there is any dirt in the labyrinth this can also cause leakage.
 
just becoming a pain in the arse its always something the only good thing is i dont have to worry bout car cancer (rust) but really am getting fed up with it.


when i took the old seal out i cleaned all the egdes and everthing and thats fine its just where the shaft slots through the seal ya can see where its wet which is why i thought about the front mount but then if it was that i would expect the NS to leak aswell
 
maybe it didnt leak for the first week as i did keep an eye on it

will just have to wait till payday and get a front mount and seal and try again
 
I do not if you can but in the old days mid sixties on the mini's we used to put 2 oil seals on the drive shafts that would cure the problem I just had a look at that seal and I do not know if it is the photo but it looks a bit rough around the middle
 
i did both the same way just the 1 leaking maybe it could just be the seal but was always worth asking about the front bush as when i select gear i get a bang on the diff and this is because the front diff mount needs replacing.

might try somewhere else for another seal..

seem to be finding bad parts at the moment
