Diesel pipe from filter to pump

Hi
I have a 2.5 di ford engine ( which is great!) in my S3 88 but the plastic pipe from the filter to the pump is damaged.
the engine is 1990 vintage so ford don't have these pipes ( about 6 inches long) so the questions i ask are:
What is this black plastic pipe called?
what is the method for making off the ends with metal and rubber compression washers?
why are they so cowing difficult to get undone?

it depends on wich type of coupling you have, sone have a tube nut and olive and some have the black plastic pipe bonded on to a piece of metal tubing with a tube nut onthat, if you go to your nearest diesel shop they would be able to supply all that you need and might even make up a length of pipe for you

hi. thanks for that. what is a diesel shop?
i have driven 10 miles to the only diesel pump man locally , and he doesn't do pipes!
this diesel stuff is so complex. i am having second thoughts on my tdi conversion on our LWB.

err... it's called fuel pipe or fuel hose. Most of the time you can just push it on and secure with a jubilee clip.

e.g.

i can see the misunderstanding. the pipe is a semi rigid black plastic that kinks when bent and is secured with male threaded connectors into the filte and the injection pump. at the end of the pipe inside the male fittings, around the pipe are rubber olives and steel washers. the fuel pipe is moulded to its shape with two short radius 90 degree bends.
