So, here's a funny story.
After many weeks of talking about looking for the oil leak on my D2 I finally got round to looking for it.
Turns out it's not an oil leak at all, it's a diesel leak. (I did wonder why I could smell it on occasion ‍♂️)
So after a quick look on here and a quick look under the bonnet I'm assuming it's the fuel pressure regulator but I can't be 100% sure.
Are there any tell tale signs it's that for certain or is an educated guess going to be more that enough.

So I've just replaced the seals on the regulator, what an absolute nightmare that was!!
But now when I've the ignition on there's a high pitch whine coming from around the back end, is it the pump in the tank? And should I be worried as it wasn't there before

That's what I was going to go with as I used their EGR delete kit, very nice piece of kit but for the sake of a regulator o didn't what to spend £60 quid on it. And considering all I used was 3o rings and the metal gasket I'm glad I didn't

Check if it's coming from the regulator spout. The little tube protruding from the regulator. You might be able to get a view by supporting the chassis, and letting the axle drop. There is a gap through the wheel arch. I used a cheap eBay endoscope I had..

Some have tubes like this one

Some just have a hole

When the regulator fails it is where the diesel escapes.
