I have a leak on my td4
it is by number 1 & 2 injector
I fought it was the overspill return so I replaced it last night but 4 miles of driving this morning proved me wrong
Any suggestions to the cause?
Any common faults
All pipes are tight so I believe it's coming from either no. 1 or 2 injector with no. 2 being the prime suspect

your thought may be right have you done any work near the return pipe because the connections get very brittle and you may have a very slight leak in one if you have knocked it.

Hi
I've replaced the whole thing with a new part
genuine land rover part that included new seals
Any chance of it coming from the injector?
I haven't got a small enough hex socket to check the clamp is tight
gotta go and buy some

Are you sure its still leaking? I just replaced the leak back pipes on my L Series. I cleaned up the area with towel but I'm sure some diesel was hiding in places cos there was still some diesel there after driving - but it wasn't still leaking - its all cleared up now.

I've cleaned it all up using decreased, a whole roll of paper towels and a turkey blaster to get it all out
pretty sure there was no diesel left plus the amount I found this morning was a lot

have you made sure the clips that hold the things on are right some time you may think you have pressed them enough then put the clip on but they are not

Thanx for all the replies
I have double checked the clips and the overspill hose and it isn't or ever was a the problem

I revved the engine up to 1500rpm and you can see smoke coming from No2 injector
The injector are 1 year old on the 15th this month so back to the garage and hopefully it's going to be under warranty

I'll get a video up shortly

I had that on my old freelander no 2 injector leaking I took it out and cleaned all the gunk that was down the hole some of it had turned solid and I made sure it was all clean then new washer and bingo stopped leaking.

Thanx mate
I've come to the same conclusion
All 4 injectors where done 15th July 2014 but I doubt a seal will be included in the warranty

I'm ordering the injector and overspill pipe seals of fleabay
I put another topic up to confirm it is Bosch seals I need for the overspill

Best start reading the Haynes manual again :D

What did you use for the cleaning job?

I used a long screw driver very carefully and a hoover to pull out any bits I just shoved the hoover tube down the hole.

When fitting injectors then a new copper washer should be used every time

Therefore the repair should be covered by the garage as its either not a new copper washer, it's defective workmanship or a defective copper washer
