Hi peeps.

When I first got my disco 2 TD5 a friend looked under the bonnet & informed me "it's got the usual fuel leak then"....
This appears to be coming from the rear of the engine in front of the bulkhead. If this is a regular fault is it an easy fix?
I seem to have developed a noisy fuel pump & am now wondering if it's pulling air into the system & the noise is air bubbles in the fuel line.
I have just found a damp patch under the fuel tank & the fuel lines are pulsing???

If this make sense to anyone I would appreciate any advise.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that,it looks very likely to be the culprit, although that probably gives me the leak is this also a point for egress of air into the fuel lines or does positive pressure mean not?

You probably have a chaffed rear fuel line. ( very common fault aswell as the Fuel Pressure Regulator ).

FPR will take a couple of " hand scraping " hours as will the fuel lines.

Had a closer look tonight & found a bodge repair to a return line, hopefully this is the problem.
It's about 6in from the top of the fuel pump.

Thanks for the replies lads

The fuel line has been changed & it's still sounding like it's cavitating air/fuel in the pump.
It's in the garage now & after a quick chat have opted to check the injector washers.
Am I right in thinking the washers seal the injectors to the block & any gases escaping will go to atmosphere? if so can the injectors fail & allow gases into the fuel line & this would be the the entry point for the air/fuel mix?

After all this it will probably be the blinking pump all along :-(

Thanks for the input so far.

Just got the truck back & 2 injector seals had gone.
Starts first time now & drives nicely.
Will be sorting the pressure regulator next, anyone suggest alternative to LR or has it got to be one of theirs?
Can the seals/washers just be replaced?

Cheers
