    Hi,

Engine is running fine but when drive it and change up I lose power and injector light flashes. Diagnostic brings up same fault. Lift needle sensor.

Annoyed as bought this 2nd hand one of Ebay back in October and only fitted it this year (this was prior to me changing chains etc).

So looks like might need to bite bullet a get a new one with a guarantee as it seems they cannot be refurbished with a new sensor.

Has anyone bought one recently and where from?

    Thanks.

Diesel Jones down Nuttall St. in Manchester is where I got mine. Other places are available, as they say. Been very happy with mine since I swapped it ...er, quite a few years ago.

And yes, Eurocarparts is where I got my #4 injector from.

Just had a look on Europarts. £200 for a Lucas one? Is dependent on £80 surcharge until old one is sent back.

Bosch one is £350 not got money for that

The injection part of number four can be serviced but the electrical part cannot. If the electrical part has failed it is a dead bird. If the electrical part is dead but it injects ok you can always clip the wire off and use it as a spare for other positions. I suppose you have checked it for continuity and wiring condition. Hook a meter to it and check continuity waggle wires about and see if it causes loss of signal. Trapping the wire in the manifold joint is a good way of knackering them.

That will be the next step as both cables were damaged and re-wired them, got a quote from Diesel Bob for £142 for new injector.

It is intermittent so could be cable is damaged internally.

For the meter, positive on wiring and negative on the body?

No there are two pins there must be continuity across them. When working around five volts passes through the internal coil creating a magnetic field, as the needle lifts at point of injection it moves a rod inside the coil which disrupts the field and sends a pulse to the ECU. The ECU then modulates the timing solenoid to align point of injection with TDC.

As I am a retard with electrics, positive on the needle body and negative on an earth/chassis? Should be seeing even 5 volts when moving cables?

Disconnect the plug, set your multi meter to resistance, one probe on each of the two pins, if you get a reading then you have continuity.

Wriggle wires and see if you get connect or disconnect as the case maybe. Either and the wiring is faulty.
