Hi all, I've just rebuilt a 2.25 diesel engine and just wondering is there supposed to be a spacer behind the fuel pump.. its an original ac type pump..?

You best compare the new pump actuating arm with the one it replaced to see if in the same position, best just to ask on one forum not all of them.
If you measure from the pump face to centre of lever contact point, then compare this to depth from side of block to centre of cam shaft section it sits on you should be able to tell if spacer required.
The spacer was introduced so the pumps could be standardised. Some engine block side plates are flat others have a raised section for fuel pump.

So far as I was aware I only asked the question in this section of landyzone, if referring to asking on another forum then when you don't get a response you ask elsewhere, landyzone used to be a welcoming and lively place, with a bit of banter... the last few queries I've made have been met with very blunt replies.
When I bought the series it had an aftermarket pump.. not the original ac type.. so was checking if anybody else was using a spacer.. I only queried it on the rebuild as there is no mention in the parts manual of a spacer nor in the big book of lies Haynes..
Thank you for replying tho..

It sounds like you have still got lots of space around the engine (having just rebuilt it)? If so using a DTI on the camshaft should help you work out how far you may or may not have to space the pump

Not so much space now ..20201106_184245.jpg
Although the rad is now leaking so that will be coming out for repair now..
It runs as is so might leave it for the mo.. cant find the pump I took out, might have binned it.. but I do have another old ac type pump and spare block with cam I can measure..
