Helping someone. Diesel fuel filter housing wiring? There is a small wiring block with three push in wires, does anyone know which position these should.
I think they are for the pre-heater. I don't have rave with me I am miles from home.

Also how do you remove the 90 degree fuel pipes, pressedthe metal clip but they wont move? He has a replacement and needs to change them onto a new part. The old one is not working he says.

He has got the car running by by-passing the filter and using a rubber sqeese hand pump to get the car running after that it runs ok but the lashup is very temperary and needs sorting. Perhaps the tank pump failed and using the high pressure one?/ ideas?

The 3 pin plug can only go in one way.

You can see whether the tank pump has failed by pulling the hose off the fip and turning on the ignition. If fuel comes out, the pump is pumping.

From memory, when you push in the clip to release the pipe, it comes apart in a different way to that which you would expect (ie, not like an electrical connector with a similar clip).

Assuming you are talking about a P38, it will run fine without the fuel pre-heater. The 90 degree pipes usually break before they come out, the plastic seems to swell over time with the diesel fuel, or maybe it's the O ring, but I have never been able to remove them on either of my P38's.
How does your mech know the fuel pre heater is not working?
You sure he's not talking about the MAP sensor that is located on the filter housing? That has 3 wires from memory.
Sounds like the in tank pump has failed and the guy does not know what he's doing.

Thanks Datatek. Got home and he has brought the car round so put T4 on and the in-tank fuel pump not working so checked the usuals and then pressed the cut off switch and hay-presto the pump worked so removed the lash up and replaced the original fuel filter housing and she fired up and ran very nicely, its only done 40k and now pulls very well indeed. Got the wiring off Rave so sorted! Few other jobs done and a couple for the future, and all is well.
Thanks all.

Sorry I missed that it was an L322, but the same applies. Glad you got it sorted.
