I KNOW THIS IS NOT A FORD TRANST FORUM but i couldnt be bothered subscribing to 1 just to ask the 1 question so i thought id ask the people who have reliably answered most of my vehicle related questions so far - YOU LOT.

My problem is that i noticed an oil leak from the sump on the tranny, its not coming from the sump plug as i originally had thought but from a small crack/corroded area on the actual sump.

I was just wondering if any of you lot knew of a quick fix as opposed to draining the oil and replacing/welding the sump? ive heard you guys mention "liquid metal" before but have no idea what it is. And could i apply something like that whilst the oil is still leaking out or would i have to drain it? Someone suggested to me some new kinda silicone that you can put onto the outside of a pipe whilst the water is still leaking, or miliput, but i dont know, what do you think? thanks.:)

why thank you sir, can i move it to there or will i have to start a new thread? (not very savvy with computers only ever put stuff here)

used to be able to get something call damit, that you could use on dirty joins/leaks - all of the other products appear to need a surgically clean surface to bond to

can't seam to find any mention of it on google thou

My dad got some resin in a block from Harlfords for fixing fuel tanks - couldn't remember if it was a two parter or how it worked but came as a black stick like plastacine and you pack it on and add hardener or wait for it to dry, one of the two.....

ive found a new sump + gasket on ebay for £45 delivered so as my old mans paying (works van) we'll probably go for that tommorow. cheers.
