Did i buy a minger???

Hi guys, picked my new beastie up yesterday, on the way home with it, it started to cut out for a second or so then run fine for abit then do it again. the A/C also cut out then started again a few times, i noticed the temp gauge going up and then back down at the same time. stopped at the services and left it to idle for a bit turned it off and back on again and all reset??? once i got it home checked the normal stuff and all looks ok i think then noticed that rads looked a little blocked. today i have been trying to flush them through the first are now clear but the back one will only let water through about the top third.
Do you guys think this is the couse of the problems, or is this something more serious (i did search the old topics and am a little terrified it could be a head problem and i dont have that sort of cash for repairs)

If your rad' is blocked, fix it. Stick to the problems you know you have, if you start worrying about problems you might have with a Land Rover you will lose your mind.

When you say flush through, and RAD's I take it you mean externally? As in the air passageways are blocked?

Not sure if it's the case with the AC in a LR, but they will shutdown if there is a cooling issue and it cannot dump the heat.

I'd jetwash them both.

opps sorry basic info missing. its a 2000 Td5, with 90000 miles

and yes i ment flushing through the air cooling fins.

just been for a short jolly and things seem ok apart from hot air coming through the vents even though the system climate system was turned off is that normal or am i being a paranoid owner?

And destroy all the fins and wreck the radiator. Just use an ordinary hose.

Radiators love a good jetwashing provided the nozzle is not too fierce. High flow/medium pressure and you're good to go. Ordinary hose will not clean as forcefully as a hose thus you would expect residue.

If rad is healthy then it will be fine to jetwash, if not, replace anyway...

Ordinary hose wouldn't take anything off, as Noisy explained to you, not too fierce, just simple common sense really...

cheers for help so guys tryed hose with a garden head on and gets through the first two ok but well not shift the crap off the third, how do you remove them so i can get at it?

not sure how to remove rad on a td5 but your first purchase should be a haynes manual anyway mate!
