Hi Brit

What do you need the software for? I just downloaded the soundforge utility that let's you hack into the EAS. I'm not very technical. but was able to sort out my EAS using the rangerovers.net site and the software.

Hope this helps.

Is there not an Independant down your way. There diagnostic charges should be much lower than the main stealer. If I do a straightforward fault read and reset, I charge €40 per hour (Approx. £30)-minimum charge 1hour provided they bring the car to me, if I have to go to them, obviously it's plus travelling time and petrol expenses. You can get the faultmate set up from Blackbox at a moderate price but it is vehicle specific and will only work on one vehicle I.D., however it will cover all the systems. My Rovacomlite and software modules has cost me over £2000 to date, although I have the P38 well covered, I could spend a fortune on modules for other models in the LR range. Used units are like rocking horse s**t to get hold of and only come up very rarely.

I just got a Faultmate Extreme £690 delivered. This covers all the systems on my p38 and has a got a stand alone function for reading and clearing faults ( although the software update hasn't been issued yet) Top bit of kit. Highly recommended.

Good on ya Rewmer now you can save a few bob by doing it yourself. You will find loads of info., and can submit posts to the Blackbox forum, if you are stuck or need help in using it to it's full potential. Am I correct in thinking that your setup is for single vehicle use only? Not a problem because it's always an added selling tool if ever you sell your motor and can build it into the price. I would have definately paid an extra grand when I bought my P38 5 years ago if such a sweetener was thrown in.

Brit, how far away are your from wellington in somerset?, there is a top bloke there who does mobile diagnostic.

Yes its a single vehicle unit. I have been having great fun making the windows go up and down from the comfort of the front seat of the car via my laptop. Succsesfully repaired the Hevac, had the checkbook symbol on for a couple of months and was about to splash out on the obvious culprits - blend moters, did a scan and it turned out to be the core temp sensor. £11 - fixed !!! ( hope they are all that cheap ) .
I did have an issue with some funny readings from the O2 sensors, but this turned out to be a glitch in the software. This was fixed within a week after personal service from the MD of Blackbox and one of his top programmers and a duly installed patch. The service from them has been Outstanding, I wonder if you would get the same level of service from any of the other sytem dealers ?
In all a top, top bit of kit.
