Hi all
Has anyone bought and used one of these? If so how good are they? What cant they do, are they worth the investment?

I had the iCarSoft CR Plus that can be used on a multitude of cars. It was very basic for the cost but it was good for reading and clearing faults on the cars I used it on... Cadillac, Audi, my Disco, wife's BMW X5, Chevy, Ford & Jaguar.
I sold the CR Plus and bought a Foxwell NT510 (now it's a NT520) and a Nanocom Evo.

Depends on what vehicle you want to use it on. The TD5 wasn't fully OBD compliant so the generic fault code readers may not help much. Later models may be OK though. In the case of the TD5 it's better to bite the bullet and buy a Nanocom, Hawkeye or Lynx.

icarsoft are known fer being helpful before you buy. Different story after the purchase.

A propos of Ray's comment, it appears to have the TD5 on its menus, but in practice it doesn't actually tell you much that's useful. I see this a lot with software and IT products - they look like they're supposed to do something but when you explore it, it turns out that nobody's actually written that bit of code yet, or they tried but it was a bit too difficult but they've marketed the product anyway. But things were ever thus.

Just used mine to read and reset a generic odbII fault code from a 2002 ford fiesta - quite handy for all OBDII vehicles.

Yes it was my intention to warn people, it was definitely sold as compatible with TD5 and there was an option on the menue, but it was virtually useless, I wrote to the manufacturer but they were pretty evasive and slow, luckily the supplier refunded my money.
It's a pity, but that's how it was, I have wondered if they ever wrote the code for TD5 or if they have stopped claiming that it is compatible, but since I bought a nanocom it's only curiosity.
