thats just a feckin laptop!!!

i would get the kit that does it right and is known to work. autoenginuity can be bought (and the toughbook don't have the leads and dongle for it) and loaded onto any lappy!!

waste of cash if you ask me!!!

Bee n looking for some diagnostic kit and found this PANASONIC TOUGHBOOK CF-28 DIAGNOSTIC LAPTOP, OBD2, EOBD on eBay (end time 16-Dec-09 17:45:03 GMT)
Messgaged them to ask if it would work and the reply was it should if i puchase the land rover enhancement.....thoughts..comments..**** taking!:D

Ask them how much the Rangie enhancement is !
I've just bought a 2nd hand Toughbook with the faultmate : all you're buying is a laptop as Gav said.
Just as a matter of interest the laptop with Windows and basic diagnostic operating system pre-loaded was £150 as part of a package with the rest of the software.

Hmmm, might have to source a Toughbook myself methinks!

I've recently bought an ELM 327 OBD2 jobbie for the Rangie (not that I've had a chance to test it yet) - I know it will only probably give me the engine codes though...

Any idea of the best software to ensure I get the best out of the ELM327?

Thats the one I got with it - I'll give that one a go first - when I summon up the motivation to go out in the cold!

:):)

Panasonic toughbook are a strong bit of kit, but are not the greatest spec for perfomance etc, most dont come with a CD rom built in.

Expensive but robust, the millitary use them as do BT ( Have seen a BT enginner use it to knock cable pins in)

Best to buy the proper kit and a better spec laptop which will be cheaper and put it in a Peli case

The toughbook is a great bit of kit, as above I bought my CF27 with my faultmate and I love it but i really doubt that what you're looking at will do squat for the P38.

It says that the LR 'enhancement' is for 2002 to 2007 and I'll bet even that will only do the statutory OBD info that you'll get with any scantool.

Thus far BBS are the ony crowd to have cracked the code for anything more than EAS in 14 years for the P38 (and the EAS took a massive concerted effort over many months on RR.net), I doubt that anybody else has done it quicker for the L322.

if you read up on rsw site i think it took more that 12 months to figure out the eas protocols!!!

i believe the rest of the p38 diags is a work in progress!!
