P38A Diagnostic faults

Afternoon all,

Brought the car to a local garage yesterday to see if maybe they would have diagnostic equipment to have a look see if they can find any faults. The only system that their computer could talk to was the abs section. It didn't give any trouble codes only the following three faults.

1. Brake switch failure
2. Front right valve open circuit
3. Rear left sensor short to another sensor

only the first one came back after he cleared the codes. There was no actual fault codes only what is above. Anyone have any idea for the last two (I think I can figure out the first one myself

) I know I should probably get the diagnostic tools that I've seen recommended on the forum but I'm reluctant as the ones I've seen cost more than I paid for the car in the first place!

Try replaceing the brake switch before you to anything else, I think it can cause all sorts of problems .

And also ensure you use Land Rover specific diagnostics

Because some of the generic diagnostics will give you phantom faults.

If you replace or remove the brake switch it must be reset as to the instructions in Rave.

It's trying to find somewhere around here that's close to do the testing, there's no tax or any kind of a test on it at the minute. I'm probably going to have to bite the bullet and buy a tool - It's going to kill me though to pay more for the tool than I paid for the car in the first place!!!

Could you point me in the direction of this - the only instruction I could find in RAVE was the usual "replace, reversal of removal" couldn't find anything about resetting it.

Pull out plunger on switch hold peddle down fit switch then let peddle up and it will set the switch to the correct height job done.

If you buy a Nanocom, you can always sell it on when no longer needed, they hold their price well.

Didn't someone on here used to rent out their nanocom? Was a big deposit to cover non return but at least you would get it back when you returned it.

If you're planning to keep the car any length of time, nanocom is essential. Not just nice to have, but essential!
