We had a pub meet at Dunmere once before, it was good, it is posted earlier in the fred :)

Not coming on Sunday, Im not interested in off roading, I get plenty in my work, but would be good to meet you for a drink and dinner sometime.

Kl that's just up the road from me.

O year what is it that u do?

Yeah would be kl.

Where about r u based then?

I have had a little drive today, it does feel nicer to drive, the steering is REALLY light but i think the road biased radials might be helping that! :)

It has a few issues and time will be my biggest issue. :( Go back to work on Thursday for 3 months :(

Don't forget to check when the cam belt was last done ...just reminded me of my friends 109 whose cam belt failed -luckily he was crawling along at the time , but it's still an expensive repair!:)

No cam belt on original 2.25 petrol engine.
I'd guess your friend's 109 had been converted to TDi. ;)

Bonus points if any of the East Cornwall lot turn up ;-)

Yes well... erm... reasons. Next time I'll be there! And I'll travel further than normal as I do more than 12mpg now. I think I'm about set for some green lanes and off roading too, a couple of kinks to sort out over the next week or so (new battery, reconnect the transfer linkage)

Yeah I'm well up for some lanes.

was it the diesel engine?no cam belt on a petrol engine. bloody hell trewey, you just beat me to it.

If Muds means me ,then yes my 109 is converted to 200tdi.

My bad ....if I'd bothered to read MFs original post properly , I'd have seen it was a petrol with overdrive :doh:

Sometimes tho , especially when buying stuff at auction, you can forget all the nitty gritty stuff like cam belt mileage

Anyway stop pickin on me , I'm blonde AND poorly :( ( although I'm getting betterer by the hour so watch it!!!) :fighting2: :D

Yeah I'm well up for some lanes.

Well, I suggest you start by reading the excellent stickys at the top of the page. Lots of info on finding lanes there, and on how to drive them sensibly, without causing damage or upsetting other classes of user. Familiarise yourself with the GLASS code of conduct.

If you have never been out before at all it might be an idea to get someone who is experienced to show you the ropes first off. :)

Been laning loads of time. Just moved to Cornwall from Hertfordshire and the lanes in essex r gd fun. All I was doing is looking for some new people to go laning with.

Well looks like they r all going to b shut soon any ways.

I see, didn't know that, thought you were a new owner. Sorry about that! :)

We go out sometimes, but we keep to very small groups, especially right down West here, it is like a small island, and everyone knows each other. We like to meet people first, hence the pub meets ;)

There is some talk of having a run up to East Cornwall, we may meet with some of the others up there, split into two groups, and do a run from different ends, something like that. We will keep you informed.

Actually round Bodmin there are not many lanes, at least not that I know of, but there are some down round Liskeard and in South East Cornwall. I can pm you some refs, but I haven't driven most of them for years, so I don't know if they are actually passable atm.

Try a PM to Jess0engineering, I think he does a few up there, he might take you out or make suggestions.

There is a lot of pressure to close the byways, but others are fighting it in a number of ways, hopefully we may get a few years yet, and there is talk about possible licencing schemes in another fred in the forum, that could be a way to preserve some access. Fingers crossed! Are you a member of Glass?
