Devon 4x4 - Why all the hate?

Pretty much every time devon 4x4 or D44 are mentioned when I've been reading older threads on this forum people chime in with a load of negative comments, usually involving them being "overpriced" and/or "c**ts". But looking around the web and on other forums they seem to have a pretty good reputation for both quality and customer service, and I haven't seen any threads where people describe any actual problems with them.

So, mostly out of interest, why all the hate?

Dunno, I've used them only a few times but they've been pretty good, even when they screwed an order, they replaced stuff very quickly and amicably!

A lot of their stuff is a tad expensive though .. but they generally do seem to have a massive inventory, especially of things like winch parts and oddball off-road stuff.
