Determine suspension lift

hello,

new to landyzone as member - I have found this forum extreamly useful as a resource in the past so hope some one can help -

I want to work out what lift kit was put on my defender 90 by the previous owner (she is quite high ), so that I can get the right cranked arms and work out clearance for some new mud tyres.

does anyone have measurement for the standard suspension height ie from the centre wheel hub to the wheel arch

or is there a better way?

measure the length of the spring while its on the vehicle

the springs are 13 inches in length, how does this compare to standard?

why do you want cranked arms?

are you runnin a lift bigger than 2"?
you will notice no difference atall putting cranked arms on..my mates done his and i havent and there is no difference between the two.

spend ya money on summit else

at the moment i am just trying to determine what lift is already on the 90, the spring measurement on the vehicle in 13 inches - i can only find uncompress measurements for the standards springs (ie not on the vehicle). I might just jack her up till fully dislocated and see how the lengths compare…

So WLM are you saying that you don't need a full conversion kit for a 2" lift? Just the springs and shocks? If so that's great news, putting a 2" lift on my 110 soon, had budgeted for all the cranked radius arms etc but that could save me a few hundred quid.

save your money it aint worth it..

i have 2" lift kit fitted and 35" tyres and nothin else..done winch challenges,punch challenges..pay n plays etc...never had a problem

do a 6"lift or dont bother.

THats bloomin handy to know about just needing shocks and springs for a 2" lift. Save a bit of dosh there.

its worth budgeting for the extra parts just in case (not all landys are the same)

I have had a 2" suspension lift for about a year now, the only reason to fit 3 degree radius arms would be to correct the steering geometery (steering self centre) and make it a little less twitchy, but fitting the radius arms alters the prop angle, so then you would need to fit a wide angle front prop. So I guess if you can live with the steering geometery as it is with a 2" lift then you're ok.
