hi thanks for having me in group.
i have a defender 110 1997 just replaced rear disc and calipers' and pads. not connected to brake pipe yet so no pressure. pistons all way in but 1 pad will not fit in by about 3mm ?
any advice would be great ? thanks TIM

Sounds like one of the items you have bought and fit is not to spec. If the other pad fits then it would appear to be that side of the caliper is wrong.
If it were me I'd take it off and take the piston out to ensure there is nothing stopping the piston from retracting completely into the cylinder.

Try the other pads, if no go then compare the calipers, if they are the mirror of each other recheck the discs, ie how much the top hat bit sticks out from the disc itself, or take them off and lay them on a flat surface to see if they are the same as each other.
