Hi all,

Thanks for reading this thread.

Ive recently got a bit obsessed about getting a landrover defender. Not too fusy about 90 or 110. However, ive got a bit of a problem. Im 6 foot 3 and pretty wide at the shoulder...and middle, bit of a big ass too.

So, ive been looking at 'mudrails' rail extenders and bulkhead tool.

However, i dont think that this will create enough space. The bulkhead removal doesnt completely get rid of it, just chops it down a bit so the seat can tilt back a bit more.

I think if the whole bulkhead was cut out and then seat rails positioned further back into the vehicle or just longer rails then that would provide enough room.

Is this even possible to do safely? How much do you reckon such a job would cost?

Thanks again!

Ive sat in them, seat as far back as it will go, door closed, its very bunched up and basically impossible to drive. Im not sure if there's something i missing, a few people who are tall have said they have no problems. I currently drive a daihatsu hijet, a tiny van and there is more room in them than a defender! Theres enough headroom, my knees are right up against the dash, cant really move them to work the pedals.

Is there any more room in a 110 station wagon, with no bulkhead, just seats in the back?

You can get a bar to remove the bulkhead, and if necessary make your own seatrails, this will allow you to move the seat a lot further back and you can even raise the seat slightly if needed. I have done this to get a little more leg room.

Cheers
