From LRO's front page:

A recent survey by Tracker has revealed that the number of cars taken with stolen car keys has risen to 80% of all cars stolen for the first quarter of 2010. That’s up by 6% on 2009. The study has also revealed that car thieves are now targeting lower value vehicles in order to meet the demands of the competitive car market. Stephen Doran, managing director of Tracker Vehicle Recovery Services explained, 'The recession is taking its toll on thieves too and we have seen some adjust their targets to suit buyers, making lower value vehicles just as valuable to them as the fancy models.' So, what are the most commonly stolen and recovered cars?

Well, it appears some things never change with the luxury BMW X5 crossover remaining in the top spot, followed closely by the Range Rover and the BMW M3. It's not so good news if you own a Land Rover Defender as this now comes in in fourth place. It's also a statistic that two LRO freelances know only too well; in recent weeks the Defenders of Kev Baldwin and John Carroll were taken in separate incidents. Baldwin' 90 Station Wagon was taken from a hotel car park in Northamptonshire while Carroll's 110 High-Cap pick-up was taken from a residential street in West Yorkshire.

I no its nothing particuarly new, but, its topical :)
