defender wiper spindle

Hi can anyone tell me how you get to the passenger side wiper spindle to replace it on a defender 200 92reg? the grub screw had seized up so I was trying to drill out and its snapped off?

I'd assume remove the dash and you could get at it from inside ?

Grinder through it with slitting disc and then pry it off. Be careful though if not you'll have to replace the unit which is cheap but a pain to do

wonder if you would be able to do it by just removing top bit?

the spindle has snapped off! only an inch poking through outside.

Had this happen on a Mk2 Cortina. RAC man took me to a scrappy where we took turns upside down in the footwell getting to then unbolting the necessary bit. We were both astonished with the amount of rust on the floor where we were working.

When we went to pay we found out that three blokes had been decapitated when the car had gone under a truck. It wasn't rust that we had just been lying in.

You can get at the spindle wheel by removing the top of the dash.
