Hello

Following the elation of having passed its mot with no advisories the following day having had a look underneath, big mistake, a crumbly part of the chassis became what you see.The crossmember was replaced 10 years ago with extensions and while the crossmember appears solid and sound the chassis rail forward of the crossmember has holed underneath with metal de laminating on the top. I would appreciate any advice as to how to repair this and as I cant weld am looking for a welder who knows landrovers in gloucestershire
Many thanks in anticipation

Rather than mess about repairing small sections of what looks like a rear chassis on its way to the great rust hole in the ground.
Would you not be better off fitting a new replacement cross member? A rear crossmember ans chassis legs is not that expensive. You may find it works out cheaper than trying to patch it in lots of places.

Also, it looks like that chassis has never had any form of rust preventative treatment, so what is the rest of it like?

Maybe @blue beasty being from your neck of the woods knows someone who can help you out.

Cheers

I'm not a welder but I'm happy to help out cutting in the odd new patch or two but for anything major (that's not mine) Id recommend AJ Bull Services, Ebley Rd, Stonehouse for anything LR related and his welding is spot on.

I'm happy to have a look and give an opinion if you want to swing by Stroud anytime.

Thank you for your replies. Blue Beasty I am only 6 miles from Stroud and would like to take
you up on your offer to look at the damage. Where are you in Stroud?
