I have recently bought a new td5 defender, it has central locking, and a Sensor Ultrasonic Alarm device fitted onto the roof. It only came with 1 key, should this vehicle have a fob for remote central locking?
Thanks
Rob

Only going from my mates TD5, if the alarm is installed then it should probably have a fob with two buttons: alarm/cl on and alarm/cl off. I've seen some cars ( not Landies ) with a sensor installed as standard but with no alarm, in which case they had no fob but key operated central locking instead. So I guess you need to find out if you have an alarm installed.

Thanks for the reply, with having no fobs but central locking (ie actuators already fitted) im going to just buy a universal kit for the transponder and fobs so I have rcl

my td5 has a fob which activates alarm and immobiliser. Its a 2001 car. I never use it and just lock and unlock manually given I don't trust the alarm. I would be interested in seeing a follow on to this thread as I only have one fob and would like to get a second for emergencies. I know they need coding but not going through a Rover dealer would be preferable price wise.
