I have rebuilt my front axle but I'm not happy with the hub preload... on mine it has the spacer between the bearings and single hub nut... thing is the spacer is the longest one 15.5mm... torque up to 210Nm... all new bearings seals etc... but I was surprised how much drag there is due to the preload...
As I've not done one of these before im not sure if it's normal... I think there's way to much preload, you cant spin it at all on its bearings....

I've just rebuilt the wheel bearings on one rear and one front on mine. Like you I had the same issue so I removed the spacer from the front and went to the old double nut system and on the rear I put the spacer in but didn't go to the mega torque and adjusted it like a old style one.
I'm gonna get more lock nuts and as I change each one go back to the older style
