Hi all, hope somebody might have come across this and solved it!
Fitted alloy intercooler, silicone turbo hoses, new fuel pump and filter, new prop shafts ,injector harness, egr delete with boost gauge coming off it, right ive approx 15 psi showing before changing gear, so thought id up it a few psi to say 17-18psi by pre loading wastgate actuator just a couple of turns, showed no difference in psi, checked wastgate wasnt stuck and tighten all hoses etc, turned a few more times no difference, next day tried 4 turns so approx 8-9 threads showing still 15psi, spent three nights googling this ! I know putting boost gauge into diff engine locations changes psi readings slightly i only put in the large egr delete pipe as had tee coming off for gauge but eitherway something is not right ! Help!

Iirc I had to cut some of the thread off of mine to get the boost up 21/22 psi, but be aware if you go outside the boost parameters the engine sulks so you need a boost controller, BAS or Alive Tuning used to do one.
Keep a close eye on your ex manifold, and if you havent dewebbed it put it on your to do list.

Edit, again from memory the boost actuator is controlled by an elec solenoid so even though youve tweaked it maybe the ecu can see the higher pressure and is opening the wastegate?
The boost controller I mentioned is wired into the ecu loom, easy job.

Boost modulator is fitted to the Discovery Td5 not Defender, on Defender boost is controlled mechanically with the wastegate

The diaphragm in the wastegate could be split, or you could have a pretty hefty boost leak. Check all your hoses are fully connected, not split or de-laminating and check for any holes in the intercooler.

Cheers guys , well need to get it leak tested defo but new hoses and intercooler so they should be fine, been round the hose clips etc, whats annoying is everything seems to work fine, i started giving it a foot full on way home tonight looked like it hit 16psi but after 55mph with foot to the floor it got loud shakey like it was redlining type of thing took it to 70 bit it seemed to be struggling, my first thought was actuator but seems to be fine upto 15 psi and the amount if pre loaded the rod it should of moved!

if you have not fitted a boost box or uprated map sensor you will be hitting the boost limit set in the ecu, which will cut fueling so will struggle, once boost box is fitted, dependant on the level of your re map your maf sensor will throw it into limp mode so you will then need a maf box to fool the ecu

Hi johnlad, was 15psi standard and same speed issues feeling bit rough like struggling over revving etc, ive adjusted rod alot and it has shown no boost increase, ecu will cut in at about 20psi when it shows overboost not at 15psi, boost box to fool ecu after approx 20psi used, cheers
