Defender seating

Smart car seats fit pretty well IIRC. Another option I've seen that works well is to use the rear seat from a range rover classic up front- you have 3 seats when you need them, and the middle armrest when you don't. Remember you need to access the battery which should be considered when replacing the seats for something more conventional.

In my experience, standard defender front seats are actually pretty good- they were originally for a lorry I think. The trouble is that inevitably the foam in the seat base breaks up over the years and they sag. I refurbed mine with new base foams and I don't see any reason to change them.

I am a BMW fan and had many of them. I don't have any access to any here, but I think the BMW e30 Recaro seats should fit nicely.

They have around 5 different adjustments including height and not too heavy. They are easy to remove as well, the seat rails should fit the landy.

Do a search on seats here, there was a thread where I think I posed pics of the e30 seats..

Many seats can be made to fit the defner but the problem is the thickness of the seat base in most cases. If your tall you could end up with either your legs jammed under the steering wheel or having to bend down to see through the screen.

My friend has just bought a brand new Bespoke Defender and that's come with Recaro seats, so it's likely Recaro do a Defender fitting kit for at least some of the seats in their range.

I'm on the lookout for black leather RX8 seats in my area on eBay. Seen a friends with them in and they look good and are comfy. They also fit the rails with minimal 'bodging'

I said nice ones ;)

The old style defender seats are terrible. They started to get decent with the newer 'twin shaft headrest' Puma seats, and like I said they are way overpriced. Around £700 a pair new depending on spec. If you want the 'premium' type Puma seats you can double that figure...

I have had my RX8 seats in for a couple of months now, for the £10 they cost me once I sold my old seats they have been the single best investment in my 90 so far. Other than being a bit harder to get into they are epic!

I made a rough guide on how to fit them if anyone needs it, have got it down to an art now!

Personally I find the older 90 seats very comfy to sit in. And while the Puma ones look nicer, they certainly aren't as comfy to sit in IMO.

Must have a totally different arse to me then ;)

While I find the older seat comfy around town on short journeys they cripple me if I'm in them for hours, whereas I can sit in the puma seats all day.

I wouldn't buy them though. If I was spending my own money I would probably look at the new exmoor seats being released next month. Yes your looking at the best part if 1k for the half leather but look far superior to the LR premium seats and yet £400 cheaper..

You can get much nicer seats for £1k! I bought Courbeau RSS seats, leather, heated, buckets but not extreme at all. Best seat ive ever sat in, so supportive and comfortable on long drives.
