Defender rear wheel hanging off

Theres been a clunk clunk and a scraping noise been coming from the rear axle for quite a while but today it failed i lost drive like halfshaft had snapped or worn the teeth down like last time but my driver side wheel was hanging off at an angle i managed to drive home from a field in diff lock and the wheel angle only got worse any ideas on what might cause this

Ah must of made a mistake was meant to post in defender section how do i move it

Camera on phone is broken but i pulled half shaft and the flange and flange side of halfshaft have been worn down to nothing but wheel is more of a concern at the moment

What is wrong with the wheel? Any signs of damage?
Sounds like the drive flange and possibly bearing have failed.

The wheel tyre are fine only that its sitting on an angle bottom of wheel is out top part is in

Does it look the same if fitted in another corner of the car?

The wheel is fine its the part where its stuck to thats wrong

So why are you worried about the wheel and not the hub?

So you should be. Don’t drive it till it’s fixed.

your best plan of action, jack up the old girl, remove wheel, break down drive flange/stub axle and find fault. Landy hubs are very straight forward to build/repair. If you don't have component dwgs look here for your model and press on with repair.

Stub axle and bearings mullered.

When was the last time you checked/ added oil to the rear axle/diff?

Just step away from the vehicle and consult a professional.

Furthest I'd drive that is onto the back of a recovery truck or across the yard into a garage! Please tell us you're not planning on driving any further like that!

I was in the field next to the yard so only had to drive a short while

About 2 months ago when halfshaft went oil was clean when i got it out today no bits of steel
