ive recently taken on a defender 90 as a project which my brother started. I have a few problems. It's a 200tdi chassis which is gal ibises but the running gear (engine, gearbox, axles ect) is out of a 300tdi discovery. The chassis mounts were never changed to suit the discovery engine. Is there any other way of solving this rather than cutting the nosy ya out and welding the proper mounts in? (As its galvanised) any help will be appricated.

You used to be able to buy conversion mounts that bolt to the 300tdi engine and lets you use the 200tdi chassis mounts.
Whether they're still available or not is another matter, but if you can weld, their is a diagram out their with the measurements to make your own. Think it's on the lr4x4 forum.
But that is to suit the lt77 gearbox and not the disco R380.

I have an r380 defender gearbox which I have spare from my last rebuild that I can use. You don't know where you used to get those conversion mounts? Thanks

I forget who used to sell them, but they was regularly on ebay.
The problem is the above wouldn't work, as they was made to suit the lt77 box position by moving the engine back, from memory the r380 is longer than lt77 so using the above mounts would mean the gearbox mounts are now out.
If you're wanting to definitely use the r380 and have a factory setup, I would get hold of a defender 300tdi centre gearbox crossmember, bolt the whole lot in and see if you can fabricate some engine mounts to suit what you have on your chassis. (not sure if it's possible, but if it's what you want..)
