Might sound daft and feel free to balk at the idea. Having a Land Rover 110 1988 model has posed some problems as to where to park. Like many drivers here mainly on the Defender sits high 2m 7.6 cm on the 1988 and 2m 1.2 cm on later models. My problem is Pay and Display parking zone that have height restricted entrance and exits. Is there a solution as in a website dedicated with information of height limitation for certain vehicles. Sadly there is a lot of places I would like to visit only to be prevented by these darn barriers. Grateful for you imput and solutions.

I know the AA do something. But it's not the best. If you go on council websites of where you are or are visiting they will tell you height restrictions on car parks in their area.

I usually assume that any car park will be height restricted so instead of searching for restrictions before I set off I search for "over-height vehicle parking" - usually works, great at airports as well because the over-height vehicle car parks are usually well situated.

A few years ago I went into a hospital multi story car park in my big tyred, roof racked S111, got in OK just under the height restriction barrier. On the way out there was no way it was going under the scissor type barrier, so up on the kerb to go round it. It went round the barrier ok but I did "modify" the fume extraction duct a bit.

Good Call.
Tried ye olde Google method for a trip to Buxton the previous night and was a bit disappointed from the results. I wanted to park nearer the town shopping zone but lucked out. Ended up at the Pavilion Gardens.

i fit in the car park right next to the town centre.. but it is a pretty standard 110.. just fit under the barriers.

i have to admit i have been stuck once, (not in buxton!) i got in fine.. but on the way out down the slope, the barrier was right on the part where the slope meets the floor.. like this \__ so cos my landy straddled the step i wasnt fitting through.. luckily wasnt busy so went out the way i came!

If you are searching for over height car parks I usually use Google to get a more specific website to earch properly - so Town or District Council website, airport website, national rail off the station specific menu and so on - usually works, and if all else fails I phone em up first if I think there might be a real problem.
Had a bad experience 9n the short stay car park at Heathrow (T2 I think) - at one point I think there were about 35 cars backed up behind me.................................
