Did you get the wires or the lamp (can be done if fitting not well made) the wrong way round so you are always energising the 21W filament in the lamp?

With regard to the headlights I would have a look at the connections again and meter them out before the light to see if they are actually getting power.

is that for the rear brake light being on? ill take a look! all side lights work fine!! check connections on the main lights is that? cause they havnt been touched!!! but ill meter the side light connections see if an earth is not working right

Yeah the lamp in the wrong way or the wires round the wrong way would explain the brake light issue.

You might have pulled the headlights when you were doing the sidelights, they are just silly bullet connectors that can come out easily enough.

See with the back light, take the cover off it, and look, how many filaments are lit?

If only one (the bright one) jam something on the brake and look again, is the little one now lit too? - if so it is a very simple swap em over job. It COULD be that the fitting does not have the proper channels to let the lugs in only one way, or it could be you got the wires mixed.
