Hi all. My Defender 90 is in the bodyshop having a new front outer wing, and the genuine replacement wings are arriving with mis-shapen leading edge. Has anyone else experienced similar? We're on number five so far! Good old LR quality eh? Also tried aftermarket and they're arriving bent too!

Nope.

But welcome to the forum.

When you say mis-shapen leading edge, what do you mean exactly?

Any pictures?

Are they all arriving in the same condition? ....can the bodyshop not fettle them to fit...5 with the same problem from different sources sounds odd to me...

Hi all. Thanks for your replies. It looks like the press used to shape the wings is worn and not providing a sharp finish. A few people now have told me LR sold off the presses to aftermarket companies which is why I'm getting the same problem with these too. I've now asked the body shop to try to reshape the last one that arrived but they're wary cos the aluminium is only 1.5mm thick. Sooooo frustrating, just want my car back. I'm now also looking at used parts in desperation but struggling to find one that isn't damaged. (OSF outer wing). Thanks again! Will try to arrange some photos.

It's true they sold some of the smaller press kit oft ter keep vehicles going. Tis also true the same production press pressed panels fer new build ont track as well as being sent out ter aftermarket resellers, fer many years.
