Defender front end wobble

Hi guys and girls.
just had my defender rebuilt on galv chassis td5. LCS in Helensburgh did this and i swear if anyone uses that garage they are absolutely crazy a total f**#ing cowboy. Anyway driving tonight and the front felt as if it was moving from side to side by about a foot left and right wobble. Pulled over no visible signs of anything missing which I was surprised about. But never felt anything like it around 25mph.
Axles been rebuilt supposedly but had to fit a new pinion seal myself. New steering damper brakes discs callipers. Any suggestions apart from don’t drive it lol.

Panhard rod bush knackered and/or the bolt worn?

I seriously hope your rite but feels like something a lot worse bolts seem fine there new. Cheers

I had a panhard rod bolt shear on the motorway. The wobble frightened me to death. Luckily only a few miles from home so managed to leave motorway & limp home. Anything above 20 mph felt suicidal

Tracking completely out? Tyres under inflated?

Get someone to wobble the steering while you put your hand on each joint in turn feeling for the obvious slack. Start with the UJ's on the steering shaft. And don't assume it is only one loose joint, could be several.

I agree, there are a lot of linkages in the steering system, every one a potential source of play, a little bit of play in each one will result in a lot of play at the wheel. Also check your wheel nuts are tight.

I'd go with panhard rod bushes too. Possibly a worn panhard rod bolt or location lugs. If you've had a cowboy on the job then maybe the bolt has sheared. Worn panhard rod bushes are a frightening thing! Holding the steering wheel is like I'd imagine holding reins on a bucking bronco flat out! If the bolt sheered I'm not surprised your pants were under threat. Bushes or bolt, it should be an easy fix.

Pan hard rod bushes changed today what a nightmare they are to remove and insert. Problem fixed thanks for your input guys.
