Hi ya all,
been trying to figure out why my defender passenger floor is always wet. After a fair bit of Investigation and a mate with a hose pipe. Found where the water is coming in.
Seems to be surface corrosion under the passenger door seal. Water is running in and behind the dash.

On Further Investigation, the door seem to be proad and not at all flush with the body. Removed the door seal completly to see if this was pushing the door out, as well as adjusting the doorlock plate. When door was closed there is a large gap that can be seen from Inside the vehicle.

The Door is in pretty good nick (No Rust). As there is little other adjustmnt I can do, I'm assuming the door will need replacing.

Can anyone tell me, will any defender (push button) door fit, or is there a specific door patten I need to buy. The landy is a 1990 200TDI

Cheers

door seals go hard, lube um up give um a chance to soften before you go wasting money on a new door (which will probably also stay wet)

are you sere that was the leak my 110 had a leak that wet the floor and it was the seals in the vent flaps on the front below the windshield . worth checking it out .

ok, gets its worth holding off until I've replaced the door seal. if a door that doesn't fit the hole, must be a landy issue. Cheers for the advise.

defcrazy. not 100% but the water stains on the paintwork seem to point to the door seal.. will double check the vent flaps this evening.

open door
open window
stand next to seat
put foot on bottom of door
pull top of door towards you.
problem solved.

seriously, this is how i did mine and i've seen a garage do it to. being steel it will give a bit

thats the way the garage fixed my old fiesta and its the way i fixed my landy the other day. worked a treat. there are tolerances for these kind of thing!

they also do it when the lower section of frame rots away, the top edge starts to come away from the door.

when my old door rotted out the top of the door would flap open around 6 inches!! when on the motorway

ive done this too but mind your strength as you could easily break the door as they are very thin

Having been round the factory a few months ago - thats how they adjust them to fit there!!!

Having said that, I had same problem with wet floor on passenger side - found water coming in thought the bolts holding windscreen to bulkhead!! Took them out, add a little sealant, sorted!!!
