Recently modded my defender and OMG what a difference

10 minutes work and she now goes far far better and runs a lot smoother

Apologies for those who have seen this on other forums a few weeks back but I've only just joined on here so thought I would add it here as well...

Full run down and Hi Res pics on my site for anyone wanting to play with theirs... :)

How did he manage to get all that crud and rust inside the injector pump? All the ones I have 'done' have been squeaky clean. Another trick is to connect the wastegate to the inlet after the intercooler instead of at the turbo. Then the wastegate will open according to engine input pressure rather than turbo outlet pressure. He also doesn't mention adjusting the 'smoke screw' which is normally done by about 1 turn cw.

The crud is probably due to the engine sitting empty of fuel and unused for 2 years before i acquired it, as for the smoke screw i am more than happy with my off boost fueling characteristics so there was no need, the article as with all on my site is what I have done to my 90 rather than this is the defacto guide of what you must do, Im amazed at the results on boost..... hell of a difference :).

enjoy it while it lasts

13psi is less than 1 bar Sean... a Tdi can take 1 bar easily with no ill effects... no reason why it shouldn't last mate - what makes you think it might not?
