Hi all, I've got a defender 110 TD5 ex utility company that I use for work. With all my gear in it, it weighs just over 2.5 ton. I want to replace the brake pads as they are getting worn down. What pads would you suggest I use to maybe upgrade the performance a bit? The discs are ok and don't need replacing yet. All suggestions gratefully accepted.

For general use just fit standard Mintex pads, most so called upgrade pads only work well when hot and to get there you will have to drive it hard.[uneconomical]

I don't know about on a land rover, but I have had EBC greenstuff pads on my car and think they are great.

They lasted about 40k miles and produce very little dust. It could all be in my head, but I also think they work better.

used them on my 4x4's = low brake fade and low dust. good pads.

Thanks guys, I'd heard about green stuffs before but wasn't sure. Looks like I'll give them a go. Let you know how I get on.

They are more money, but last miles longer. Infact I have had 2 sets of normal pads on the rear to one set of greenstuff on the front. And the back brakes don't do much!

I put EBCs on mine at around Easter last year and have been pleased with them so far. There seems to be very little wear after around 15,000 miles. if you look down the crack between the calliper and pad you can just see the pistons starting to peep out. Nice positive braking feel too. The only slight disappointment was that the green was just green paint. They're not green all the way through.
