Defender air con

Easy to live without if you have the front vents its like fresh air-aircon but not having them would be a pain.

And imo not worth trying to retro fit after

I decided that too!

It's funny the way people these days think they "need" aircon in cars.

I have friends who won't consider a car without it fitted. It can be used to demist the windows in winter (but not if the temperature is below about 5deg C)

I'd doubt it is "necessary" in the UK but it's become a must have, like power assisted steering, and the Defender will be more desirable with it fitted, when you come to sell it.
