I have a 51 (2002) Defender 90 Td5. I have an intermittent fault with the rear fog lamp. The 10 amp fuse keeps blowing when the lamp is on. Sometimes it blows when switching on the lamp, other times it might work for a while and then blows whilst on & working.

The bulb socket and male & female connectors look clean and intact. I've tested the switch and this seems OK.

Does anyone know of a common fault? If not, can anyone suggest where I might start to find the fault?

Mike.

Did you ever find the problem Mike?
I'm getting exactly the same problem on my 2003 110. Someone suggested looking at the connector at the back of the dash (header 0289), but removing the dash is something I'd rather avoid as I read it's a pain.

I'd be checking the drivers side rear corner for signs of chaffing where the wires come up from the chassis and enter the rear tub. I'd also check the towing electrics.

what are the wires and connections like inside the light?
