Defender 90 TD5 (53) wheel help?!

Hello everyone,

currently looking at changing the wheels on my td5, currently running boost alloys i believe. Ive been looking at modular wheels and stumped about tyre sizes. What are people running and what do you recommend without sticking wider arches on..

My first question is why are you wanting to change your current wheel and tyre combo?

Secondly I have to ask what do you use your Landy for now and what are your future plans in terms of terrain?

There are literally hundreds of tyres out there from creme de la creme top dollar to budget new and remould.

Sizes are again very much subject to your intended purpose?

Are you also looking to increase your gearing for better motorway cruising at the same time?

I know this is a lot of questions but before recommending anything I would first want to establish the above.

Just to give you an idea of what I have done in recent years, went from 225/75 r15 Grabber A/T2s to 235/85 r16 Cooper STT mud terrain




And my next move is from the 235/85 r16 Coopers to 33X12.5X15 (roughly 305/75 r15 in metric) GT Radial mud terrain.



I like to green lane a lot and have some big plans for this year and the future with some rocky laning and forestry driving where big wide tyres offering max floatation will be my biggest advantage out there along with a locking diff if I can stretch my budget that far.

Like I say, it is mostly terrain dependent.
