hi i am a new member and i have a wonderful defender 90 and i would like to put forward facing seats with 3 point seat belts. someone has told me the seat belts are a sod to fit and you have to take out the petrol tank! does anyone know if this is true and or if anyone knows a different way of fitting seat belts. exmore trim sell a forward facing seat which looks like the seat belts do not fit to the floor - has anyone fitted these seats? if anyone out there can help i would be very grateful
thanks

are you lot having a go or what. nice to see land rover owners sticking together!!!!!!!!!!! and being soooooo helpful

yes i have done that and i have found the seats i just want to know if anyone has fitted them and found them a bitch to fit

as you can see from my first post i have found seats from exmoor trim but my question was has anyone tried to FIT the seats and seat belts because i have heard they are a bastard to fit and i may have to take out the petrol tank to fit them!!!!!!

Are they the ex-moor ones?
if so isn't there any fitting info on thier web site?

If not could you say which seat they are so people can help

thanks your not so arsey as i thought. they are the forward facing seat in which the seat belts bolt to the floor approx 18" from the back and approx 12" in from the side

isnt the 90's fuel tank under the drivers seat similar to the series landy?
dont know about the 90 but on my 88 you can get to the rear floor from underneath, may need an assistant to help.

Anymore info/feedback on fitting rear seats to a 90 hardtop?? Is it a bich to do? Do ya need to move the tank?? Anyone discovered if rear facing seats as legal/safe as forefacing ones as forefacing take up way too much room?
I'm trying to fit 2 additional seats to my td6 90 & has anyone fitted a front centre seat instead of the stupid tray thing?? Looks like a tight squeeze/ need to be happy cuddling up whilst driving & the gearshift will be in the way but shud be ok 4 occasional use by kids(flexible & skinny ones)& thin people with no legs?? Any pointers anyone??

Iv got twins so got me local Landy man to bolt two mini bus seats in the back(mild steel spreaders under rear tub with BIG ht bolts) after id ripped out the old inwards facing ones.

There rear facing otherwise as you say you"ll end up with f all load space and got a 4 year old who now sits in-between me and the missus on the centre seat il try put some pics up over the weekend!

I have also trawled through the search engine on this forum concerning forward facing fold away seats but could not find any info on the possibility/method of fiiting two Defender 2010 model fold away seats into a 1999 TD5 Defender van. Any assistance along with mockery will be much appreciated.
Remember I am a newbie and everybody has to be a newbie at some point.
I think I saw somewhere on the net a conversion kit for the wheel arches so that these new seats could fit into the old Defenders. The 2010 model has, I believe, lower and angled arches??
Many thanks in anticipation.
P.S. Wife bought me the 1999 TD5 Defender for Christmas...first Land Rover.
