Defender 90 Passenger benches

Almost got my defender 90 restored and ready for the road but one thing has been on my mind since i got the thing..... are you allowed to carry passengers on the back benches when your on the road or is it only for when you are off road?

if its not alowed can i do somthing to make it legal like change the benches to seats?

They are legal, pre 1991 vehicles with inward facing seats do not require seat belts, however lap belts aren't expensive and are easy to fit....

And if you want to carry kids in the back, it's a bit of a mindfield as to what you can and can't do, depending on their age...

lap belts are dangerous for sideways impact if you get a big shunt could rip ur spine clean out of ur pelvis

my defender just happens to be a 91 model
