Is it possible that you / he left diff lock on whistle moving the vehicle, thus snapping a half shaft, or something?
No diff lock was defiantly not on he says

When he put it garden there is abit of drop when turning from top bit into our garden could that have damaged something?
This is the drop in to garden
No disrespect but does he know what and when to use the diff lock or does he think the levers are for two and four wheel drive?
If you or he have moved the vehicle on hard ground where there's no loss of traction with the diff lock on ie parking it up and manoeuvring it around your garden then you've most likely broken something on the front axle.
This might help you to diagnose it, make a brew, have a read and then get your car jack out.

It's ok lv....I think he has drove it wi diff lock on but he's saying he hasn't cause he doesn't want to admit he's broken summat on it....I don't drive it it's like a tank to me but I like helping mend it plus I want it out of garden so I can have a BBQ this summer lol
It's nice to see your landy in use off road. I don't really have anywhere to go for that sort of thing. Would love to, mind![]()
Not that i have found. I am completely surrounded by fields, so i occasionally go in there for a bit of fun, but no long drives, which irritates me a bit. What sort of terrain do you encounter with the old 90?
I, personally would check CV joints, because they are probably the most likely thing to go.
But, could you be a bit more specific in the way you describe the movement at the moment in diff lock, any grinding, crunching or general strange sounds from front or rear axle?
Sorry for high jacking your thread Tessa but there you go
Plenty of stuff up in Wales if I fancy a day out, I'm about a hour away from the Peak District or there's a few short ones within a few miles of where I live. Wales is something else though

The land of my fore fathers
It's ok lol I like wales too but I like hiking loads of places to hike there
This sounds like a serious problem because it might be a pinion inside 1 of the 3 diff casings themselves, which in turn would disengage all drive when not in diff lock. Have any modifications been done to the axles or transfer?
It's had a new back axle
