Defender 90 Csw Sides Why Not Same

Hello i,m wanting to replace the nearside side panel on my 2003 90 TD5 CSW in oslo blue, the replacement that i have bought "and painted :-( " is approx 3inch shorter than the original one at the front.

I,m thinking it must be from a TDi model with a bulkhead, rather than the steel bulkhead tube thats fitted in mine ? would this be right or is there another reason.

are you talking bout hard top side panel ,if it is sounds like you got series panel cos the 88 is shorter and used on 110s

No, i,m talking about a Defender TD5 County Station Wagon sides that go in between the roof and the tub.

The panels that have sliding windows in, not a hard top

That's hardtop side panels you've just described. and as said ^^^ it sounds like you have 88" series side panels.

Mmm not sure if i have explained properly, my vehicle isnt a hard top its a county station wagon and the replacement side that i have purchased isnt from a hard top or a series vehicle but from a CSW but maybe an earlier one ? hence why its shorter.

Solid Van sides and CSW sides are both hardtops. If it isn't a canvas tilt then it is a hardtop. there is no difference in the size of a solid hardtop sidepanel and a CSW hardtop side panel. The only difference is one has a window inserted.

As far as I'm aware all 90 side panels are the same size. regardless of the engine fitted to them. So we're back to "It looks like you've bought a series 2 or 3, 88" side panel. or the rear side panel from a 110 CSW.

Think you may have cracked it ! you say a rear 110 panel are they longer than a 90,s ?

pikey is exactly right i'm afraid you have a 88" hardtop side just phoned a mate that does a lot with both 88's and 90's and he says its closer to 6" differance between them so either its a 88" or somebody has chopped it down from a 110 for a hybrid

nope - 110 CSW has 2nd row doors remember.

Not if it's the rear side off a 5 door CSW. it only goes from rear corner to back of passenger door.

Give us a measurement of both the panels you've got and I'll measure the length of my 90TD. If Flumps around maybe he can measure his 110 CSW and see what we can come up with.

Thanks for ringing your mate up, but the panel is for sure from a defender you can tell when you see it.

I know its now easy having not seen the short panel, it was mettalic silver when i bought it with green tinted windows.

I hadnt thought about it being from a 110 csw, and thats why its shorter than the one i need for my 90.

Does anyone agree ? surley someone has come across this before or not as the case maybe.....

Correct length on my 90 csw is approx 55inch, the wrong panel is approx 52inch........

Just been out and its freezing.........

My 90TD Van is 56" exactly. and yes it is a bit chilly out there.

where the fook is nelly when you really need the verticly challenged bugger!
