The switch is for headlamp levelling, I have one in my puma. For altering the level of the beam under different load conditions. Somebody must have retro-fitted the switch in Ryan's truck.

Definitely never seen one fitted in a 300 before, I don't even think there's any way the original headlights can be adjusted without fitting newer ones

My headlamp levelling is a screwdriver
Got one in my '98 300tdi as well, all wired in as factory fit - except the levelling motors are kaput. It will stay there until I put something useful/working in its place

If you want to upgrade yours to manual self levelling, I could manufacture a few highly technical/expensive adjusters and sell you a couple
