Hi,

At some point I may need to replace the A pillar foot bracket (see picture) and was wondering what sort of a job it would be before I started ?

Hi Paul D,

Wow, what a lot of work you've done or doing,

I know my outriggers and chassis is all good and the A pillar is good to, is it only the door hinge bolts and bottom body mount bolt that holds the foot bracket in place or is it welded/spot welded any where.

thanks

Landrover maintenance, like the Forth Bridge ... always on-going .. :)

I bolted the foot to the chassis / bodywork, mainly to make sure it was in the right place and square, then added the door hinge pillar and welded the two together .. dunno if it's how they should go, but it seemed 'proper' to me.

yes I agree there's always something to do....

how much has to be stripped out and where is it welded, stupid I know but maybe thought by removing the door hinge and bottom bolt it would slide out but I guess not, like I said stupid thought....... but you can live in hope.

thanks

I welded it to the door hinge pillar ... I guess as a structural part it's perhaps a single part, pillar and foot, for original assembly, but because we're repairing them, they're split, fr ease of repair and can be done separately .. though I could be wrong.

Can't remember how it came apart to be honest, I just ripped out what hadn't already fallen out!!!

yes I guess your right,

mine is slightly corroded around the bolt but I think its still fairly sound, might have to wait until it all gets a bit worse and do what you've done i.e. be able to rip it apart, I was hoping to just replace the foot part but I guess its more involved with the main A pillar than it looks.
thanks
